Used Cars Under $10,000 in the GTA

The end of the market where the details matter most. Every car here is safety certified, and everything you will pay is written down before you sign.

What $10,000 buys in Ontario right now

Usually a well-kept compact sedan or hatchback with 120,000 to 180,000 km on it — a Civic, a Corolla, an Elantra. Cars that age well and that any local shop can service. Below about $7,000 you are generally buying a car that will need something within the year, and we would rather say so than let you find out in March.

The number that is not the price

On a used car in Ontario the sticker is not the total: HST, licensing and registration all sit on top. We put the out-the-door figure in writing before any paperwork starts, so a $9,000 car does not quietly become an $11,000 car at the desk.

Certified, not sold as-is

A used car in Ontario can legally be sold uncertified, and at this price point plenty are. Ours are not: every vehicle is mechanically inspected and safety certified before delivery. That is the difference between a car you can plate on Monday and a car that becomes a bill.

Financing a smaller amount

Lenders are less interested in small loans, and the rates on them are usually worse. Financing a $9,000 car over 72 months is rarely in your interest, and we will say so. Sometimes the honest advice is a shorter term and a slightly larger payment.

Come and see it
